Five fixes that lift website sales before you raise ad spend

When online sales stall, the first instinct is to spend more on ads. More often, the bigger gain comes from fixing what happens after the click. These are the five checks we run before raising any budget.

1. Make sure every sale is counted

If your analytics and ad platforms miss a share of orders, campaigns optimise on the wrong signals. Set up GA4 ecommerce events, the Meta Conversions API and server-side tagging, then compare tracked orders with your store's real orders each week.

2. Speed up the pages people land on

Most ad traffic lands on mobile. A product or landing page that takes more than three seconds to load loses a large share of visitors before they see the offer. Compress images, remove unused scripts and test on a mid-range Android phone on mobile data, not just on office Wi-Fi.

3. Say the offer above the fold

Visitors should see what you sell, the price or offer and the main reason to buy without scrolling. Match the headline to the ad they clicked, so the page feels like the next step rather than a new conversation.

4. Remove steps from checkout

Guest checkout, saved addresses, UPI and wallet options, and clear delivery dates all reduce drop-off. Every field you remove from the form is worth testing.

5. Bring back the people who almost bought

Most visitors who add to cart do not finish. Retargeting ads, cart reminder emails and WhatsApp messages recover a share of them at a much lower cost than finding new customers.

Then scale

Once tracking is accurate and conversion rate has improved, every extra dollar of ad spend goes further. That is when we scale Search, Shopping, Performance Max and Meta budgets.
